About My Professional Service at Denova Collaborative Health

Within Denova’s Academic Partnership Initiative, my practicum, internship I and internship II hours were supervised for ethical, clinical, and professional development.  Interns are called to utilize the “whole person” approach within an integrated health platform.  With in-person and virtual healthcare platforms, interns assess, document, and treat clients with dignity and respect for their unique life circumstances.

Denova Collaborative Health Internship Description

A Behavioral Health Intern completes intake assessments, service planning, crisis intervention and provides ongoing individual/family/couple/group therapy as needed. The Behavioral Health Intern is part of the Behavioral Health Team and reports to their assigned Clinical Director.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and treat mental and behavioral health disorders.

  • Conduct regular appointments and establish trusting and positive therapeutic relationships.

  • Propose targeted treatment strategies designed to address everyone’s unique needs; Assist with case management services.

  • Actively participate in individual and group supervision sessions

  • Maintain documentation and applicable records to comply with licensing requirements.

  • Verify patient information and perform routine data entry into various software systems within departmental deadlines.

  • Continually assess the needs and situations, providing adjustments in therapeutic interventions and strategies as necessary

Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Second year or Advanced Standing master’s student in counseling or social work at an approved University (required)

  • Valid Arizona fingerprint clearance card and TB Screener

  • FA/CPR certification – may be optional for virtual

  • Ability to document client records and notes within applicable deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, demonstrating professional communication skills.

 

Ability and willingness to maintain valid and current certifications and other applicable compliance criteria.

Mastery of the Compassion, Adaptability, Innovation and Reliability Model.

Hand-on experience using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM 5-TR to properly assess, diagnose, plan, treat and evaluate clients.

Foundational understanding and use of the Cix C's of care: competence, confidence, communication, conceptualization, clinical documentation and community/cultural diversity.

Trauma informed provider with skills in rapport building, evidenced-based care tools, appropriate diagnosing of clients, and working with individuals, families, and group therapy setting.

Provider of informed quality of care on an integrated health platform with experience with in-person and virtual behavioral health sessions.



 

Experience in ethical, evidence-based, culturally competent theories of development and selected therapeutic practices orientated towards the promotion of healthy therapeutic outcomes.
